Kuleto's Bar One, Bar Two & Roof-deck Bar @ Kuletos

This image shows cocktail drinks on the Kuletos Bar.When the current owner, Donna Asensio, purchased the venue in 1985, the building already had a long history as a hotel. Established in 1877 as the Hampton Court Hotel, it was renamed the Milton Hotel in 1887 and remained so until the name was changed to Cecchini's in the early '80s.

A few years later Donna was inspired to re-name it after one of her favourite bars on Powell Street in San Francisco – Kuleto's (rhymes with stilettos).

She is now the longest serving Licensee in Newtown and for moral and aesthetic reasons, has chosen not to install poker machines, instead maintaining a European cocktail bar vibe.

This image shows bar staff at work. The ground level bar is well known to locals, university students and hospital staff. It is THE place to be from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM Monday to Saturday for Happy Hour, where cocktails are 2-for-1.

Arrive early though, as finding a table can prove challenging! A sophisticated Bang & Olufsen sound system sets the tone downstairs with Electronic/Lounge music.

This image shows the Kuletos Bar. Wander upstairs and discover the level 2 bar, a relaxed setting overlooking King Street. While Happy Hour is also available upstairs, be sure to try our quality wines served from our Enomatic wine system. We also have a selection of both bottled and tap beers. The mood is relaxed with mainly Lounge and New Jazz playing and cool graffiti covered walls, painted by Phibs. This is a popular space for functions.

Follow the graffiti upstairs again and you will find yourself on our rooftop. With both indoor and outdoor seating, this area is a favourite for customers. It has wooden bench furniture and is the perfect location for an afternoon cocktail in the sun or nightcap with city views.
